Conviction is a blessed thing
which comes from Christ within
it tells us of a wrongful way
upon a path of sin

bringing to mind a deed or thought
the Holy Spirit knows
discerning what the heart intends
this truth He wants to show

that we do not cause Him to grieve
in such a way of shame
where fellowship might be severed
and peace is roughly feigned
____
because our own unconfession
not wanting to reveal
reflects a heart bent toward pride
not willing that it yield
____
but when conviction brings a change
when God is greatly feared
one’s attitude is right with Christ
confession makes it clear
____
keeping us in line with the truth
God’s loving hands still guide
conviction is the tool He’ll use
where nothing false can hide
____
be glad when your Savior demands
a sinless way of life
conviction sent with love and grace
is better than having strife
